What’s New with ISAK in 2025

When most people think of ISAK, they think skinfolds. But ISAK has continued to evolve, and there are a few updates worth knowing if you’re working in performance, nutrition, or education.

Key updates this year:

  • ISAK has grown to more than 35,000 accredited practitioners across 85 countries (ISAK, 2025).

  • Moving up to Level 2 now requires logging a set number of restricted profile measurements in ISAK Metry. This ensures real hands-on practice, not just theory (ISAK, 2025).

  • ISAK renewed its ISO 9001 certification, reinforcing consistency and quality in its global standards (ISAK, 2025).

  • New athlete reference values have been published, including updated anthropometric profiles for Serie A soccer players (Petri et al., 2024).

  • A recent qualitative study in Sports Medicine highlighted how ISAK practitioners in the UK and Ireland are applying assessments with greater focus on athlete well-being, ethics, and context, not just numbers (Brown, 2025).

Why it matters:

For coaches, it means more accurate benchmarks for playing weight and injury prevention. For dietitians, it’s reproducible data that pairs well with DEXA when imaging isn’t available. And for professors, it’s a reminder to teach both technical precision and the bigger picture of how anthropometry is applied.

Bottom line: ISAK in 2025 is about more than measurements. It’s about applying body composition data in a way that’s standardized, ethical, and useful for real-world performance.
